NBA Champion Lamar Odom seeks to share his experience with the next generation of celebrities – he starts his own talent management company.
TMZ Sports learned… the ex-Lakers star teamed up with his manager, Tonita Bto launch the Savvy Talent Management Group with the aim of helping young ballers and artists find their way in the industry.
We spoke with LO about his decision to get involved…and he said he wanted to prevent young talent from making the same mistakes he made during his career.
“I wish I had learned to save my money a little more,” Lamar tells us.
“I wish I could have done my due diligence on how to read people the right way, so I could keep the right people in my life who deserve to be there.”
Odom — who played in the NBA from 1999 to 2014 — has big aspirations with STMG … and he’s looked up to other success stories in the industry.
“The vision I had is a bit like james lebron and rich paul with Klutch Sports.”
Odom says he’s looking to work with athletes and celebrities to navigate their fledgling careers…and he knows firsthand that “the fame game is real.”
“There are so many talented people out there — [I want to work with] anyone who needs advice and help to be an artist or a celebrity. It is not easy.”
As for partnering with his manager, Odom says the decision was “a no-brainer”.
“I am the beauty, she is the beast. Together we do the work,” he says.
“If I had been prepared and framed [early in my career]my result could have been different.”
